SINZU A.K.A SAUCEKID HINTS SIGNING TRAQSTARR AND ALLIE TO RECORD LABEL ‘SMG’
Saucekid recently shocked fans and critics when changed his name officially to Sinzu, but it seems this is not the only announcement the ‘SMG’ boss is making. The veteran rapper took to the micro-blogging site on Monday the 20th of August 2012 to hint signing two acts to his imprint.
Fast rapper ‘TraQstarr’ who first made buzz when he was featured in DJ Neptune’s “Battle of the Engima” mixtape and released a couple of buzz singles and the grandson of Ambrose Allie who already goes by ‘Allie SMG’; were the acts in the spotlight as Sinzu tweeted;
“Look out for SMG… Allie SMG, n TraQstarr”
Although the details are still sketchy, TraQstarr retweeted and commented; “#SinZuuu!!!” on the original tweet. A source has confirmed that the ‘E Don Dey Madt’ crooner means business and is taking SMG seriously.
May D responds to Psquare statement – ‘I don’t know what they’re talking about’
Pop singer Akinmayokun ‘May D‘ Awodumila has reacted to the recent statement put out by Square Records announcing they are parting ways with him.
‘I don’t know what they are talking about‘, May D who sounded very relaxed told a source over the phone. ‘You know I don’t stay in their house so how am I meant to know this?‘, he continued.
Just this morning through a statement made available to Wadup Naija, Jude Okoye announced that the label and its sister company Northside Entertainment would no longer be associated with or working with May D.
And when we asked if Jude Okoye or anyone from Square Records had contacted him, he responded ‘I don’t know, have a nice day‘.
Looks like some drama is unfolding. We’ll keep you posted.
Psquare and May D part ways
After what looked like a perfect union with bright promise, Square Records, Psquare’s label told us this morning that they have parted ways with their first ever signing Akinmayokun Awodumila, the singer known as May D.
This was made known by Square Records boss Jude Okoye in a press statement sent to our editors some minutes ago.
I, JUDE ‘ENGEES’ OKOYE of Square Records Limited and Northside Entertainment Limited hereby announces to the general public that Mr. Akinmayokun Awodumila, otherwise known as MAY D is no longer an artiste under the aforementioned outfits due to irreconcilable differences.
We at Northside and Square records wish him all the best in his career and life.
While Psquare’s publicist told us then that he wasn’t aware of any breakup, May D laughed it off as ‘Rumour things‘ when our reporter contacted him. Before we could probe further, he switched off his mobile phone.
A close friend of May D however tells us that the singer has been for many months unhappy about his stay at Square Records; ‘He says they aren’t doing much for his career, May D wants to spend big like Davido and co. He’s not happy at all as he most times broke‘, a close friend of the young singer tells...
May D is usually seen driving the twins Hummer H2 around town. ‘Just because he’s riding the Hummer doesn’t mean he’s happy o‘ the source offered..
Before signing with Psquare in 2011, MayD was with rapper Alaye’s Ice Cream Records. We’re told Alaye was impressed with May D’s performance on rapper Kel’s ‘Too fine’ which also featured the rapper and asked him to join his label.
‘But after he turned to Alaye’s personal driver, he got tired and looked elsewhere, Psquare were there and they struck the deal‘,
A graduate of the University of Lagos, May D joined Psquare’s Square Records in 2011 and featured on two singles off their fifth album ‘Invasion‘. One of the songs being ‘Chop my money‘ which had a killer remix and video featuring Akon.
Square Records also shot two videos for May D – ‘Soundtrack’ and ‘Ile Ijo’ which were both directed by Clarence Peters.
Efforts to reach May D have remained unsuccessful.
